Beef with Black Bean Sauce
Black bean sauce provides a delicious Asian flavor for this dish which is great with beef, lamb or chicken

Ingredients
- 1 tsp sesame oilNutrition

- 1/4 cup chicken stockNutrition
- 4 cloves garlic, crushedNutrition
- 2 tsps ginger, gratedNutrition
- 3 large spring onions, choppedNutrition
- 1 medium green pepper, slicedNutrition
- 1/2 cup slices water chestnutsNutrition
- 1 medium sweet red pepper, slicedNutrition
- 1 tbsp black beans, rinsed and choppedNutrition
- 2 tbsps soy sauceNutrition
- 2 tsps ketchup manisNutrition
- 1 tsp sugarNutrition
- 2 lbs sirloin steak, stripsNutrition
- 1 fl oz rice wineNutrition
- 1/2 oz corn flour (3 tsp)Nutrition
Directions
- 1Marinate the beef strips for 1 hour in 1 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tsp rice wine, 1/2 tsp sesame oil and 1 tsp cornflour.
- 2Heat 2 tablespoons of oil to almost smoking in a wok.
- 3Add the beef and brown – remove. Add another tablespoon of oil to wok and heat.
- 4Stir fry the spring onion, garlic, black beans and ginger for 20 seconds.
- 5Add the peppers and water chestnuts and stir fry another minute.
- 6Combine the remaining soy, wine, cornflour and sesame oil and ketcup manis, sugar and stockand simmer until thickened.
- 7Add the beef and toss lightly in the sauce until cooked through.
