Hot Chocolate

  1. 1You will need 2 standard sized mugs (8-12 oz.) for this beverage which is easiest prepared using a microwave, although you could use a stovetop. Have a teaspoon ready for stirring.
  2. 2To one mug, add the dry ingredients: the Splenda (or equivalent substitute) and the cocoa, like Hershey's brand.
  3. 3Add the non-fat milk to the other mug. Place this mug in the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes, or until the milk is very hot to touch (not quite boiling but not curdled).
  4. 4Pour milk into the mug with the dry ingredients. Stir vigorously. This will make the hot chocolate nice and frothy, with a good body (contributing to the illusion that you made it with a higher-fat milk).
  5. 5Taste your creation. If it is not sweet enough, cautiously add additional sweetener. If desired, add the vanilla extract, as well. Re-stir as needed.
