Lean Turkey Chili

Ingredients
- 2 tsps garlicNutrition
- 4 tbsps olive oilNutrition
- 16 oz lean ground turkeyNutrition
- 2 cups tomato sauceNutrition
- 1 cup chopped or sliced tomatoesNutrition
- 1/2 cup pieces or slices mushroomsNutrition
- 1 medium onionNutrition
- 1 cup diced potatoesNutrition
- 10 oz red kidney beansNutrition
- 10 oz pinto beansNutrition
Directions
- 1Heat the olive oil on the stove top in a pan large enough for the meat.
- 2Add half the onion and all of the garlic to the hot oil. Let simmer for a few minutes until the onions become clear.
- 3Add the ground meat and cook until brown. Season with salt and pepper.
- 4Dice and slice tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms and any other vegetables you may have lying around the fridge.
- 5In either a crock pot or large stove top pot add the tomato sauce, beans and vegetables (including the remaining onion). Add a jalapeno or haberno pepper for spice if preferred. Season with salt, pepper, oregano and red pepper flakes.
- 6Add all ingredients to the pot. Heat until it is boiling then reduce to low.
- 7Chili is done when the potatoes are cooked, usually 45-60 minutes stirring every 10 minutes. Enjoy!
- 8Note: can use lean ground beef instead and can be made in an all day crock or on the stove top.
