Directions
- 1Bring split peas and water to a bowl, strain and rinse.
- 2Return peas and 8 cups water to the pot and bring to a bowl once again.
- 3Lower heat and simmer for two hours, stirring occasionally. Add water if necessary and to preference. If you like thicker soup, let some of the water simmer off.
- 4Add seasonings, chopped onion towards the last 15/20 minutes of cooking.
