Spicy Split Pea Soup

A delicious split pea soup with a flavor you would not expect that gives it a real kick.

  1. 1Heat oil in pot.
  2. 2Add onions, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  3. 3Add garlic, bay leaf and rinsed and drained peas. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. 4Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  5. 5Let simmer on medium heat until peas are tender (about 45 minutes ).
  6. 6Once tender, find and remove bay leaf, then take hand blender and blend soup until desired consistency.
  7. 7Serve with a dash of hot sauce. Enjoy!
