  1. 1Combine flour, spices and baking soda in small bowl.
  2. 2Lightly beat egg. In large bowl, stir together sugar, buttermilk, oil, applesauce, molasses and egg.
  3. 3Add flour mix to wet ingredients and stir well.
  4. 4Bake for 25 minutes at 350 °F (175 °C).
  5. 5Cut into 4x4 = 16 squares.
