Directions

  1. 1Pre-heat oven to 375 °F (180 °C).
  2. 2Combine dry ingredients (oats, salt, baking soda and flour).
  3. 3Cut shortening into dry ingredients.
  4. 4Add water a tablespoon at a time to form a stiff dough.
  5. 5Roll dough onto floured surface until about 1/8" thick and cut into rounds, approximately 2 1/2".
  6. 6Bake on ungreased baking sheet until cakes are golden, about 15-20 minutes.
  7. 7Serve with preserves, butter, honey, cheese or any topping you like!
